The Faith Formation process for middle school, fifth through eighth grade, focuses on community building and reinforcing the Catechetical foundation built in the lower elementary grades. Growth in the young person’s faith is strengthened with an emphasis on the Bible, Catholic teaching and how to connect our Catholic traditions into daily life. This ministry also facilitates the transition into the high school programs and continued parish involvement.
We seek to increase that strong Christ-centered relationship in our youth through small groups and deeper worship experiences. Our hope is to partner with parents in helping students go deeper with each other, their leaders, and most importantly, God.
The Middle School Faith Formation program at St. Charles Catholic Church is very fortunate to have Edge as our curriculum. Edge provides an exciting, non-classroom environment where the youth of our parish can establish and nourish their relationship with God.
Breakaway- Breakaway is for our 5th-8th grade teens. We open Brooks Hall (our Youth building) each Monday during the school from 4 to 5:30 p.m. It is an opportunity for our middle school teens to unwind after a long day at school. Check out our calendar for Breakaway dates!
Small Groups- Starting in the 2021-2022 year our middle school teens will gather on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 8 p.m. in groups of 6-8 teens plus a facilitator. These groups will explore the scriptures tying them into their daily and Catholic life.
Edge Nights- These are held on Wednesday evenings during the school year and take the place of that small group gathering that week. Teens will gather in the parish center for food, games and a teaching on various topics throughout the year.
Core Team- We are looking for adults (18 and over) that would like to volunteer in helping with Edge Nights, Social Events or Small Groups. Contact the Youth & Faith Formation Office for more information or to volunteer!
